Umbrella Skye was born from the needs experienced by a team of homeschool friends working in and volunteering in leadership roles to grow, guide, and support homeschool parents.

We were frustrated with the time cost sifting through social media queries and rabbit trails.

The gazillion fb groups of random parents giving their best, but not always accurate answers led us to dreaming up a better mouse trap. Isn’t that just the homeschool spirit and why we all do what we do?!!

We created an Umbrella Skye team is comprised of experienced mentors and trained professionals with 12+ years of leadership experience each and 300+ hours of educational experience combined. One of our core values is saving your time by understanding your unique situation and providing accurate answers and achievable solutions.

The next place we realized we were giving our time away was to our favorite social media influencers with their incredible products, wisdom, and enthusiasm -for what worked for their family. Too often this creates greater anxiety to fit into their mold rather than providing confidence building tools create your unique home school culture.

After 5 years of dreaming, researching, pondering, and refining, Umbrella Skye was born into this bright and lovely homeschool world in which we are privileged to be called to personally navigate and provide leadership for others.

We created the most timely, caring, and efficient homeschool help desk for you to ask your question, lay it down with confidence as you wait for an answer or three, and put your time back to where the gold resides - teaching your children.

Asking/answering questions is not all that we wanted as our younger homeschooling selves. We regularly add pertinent and timely content, by topic webinars, and detailed tips/tricks from record keeping to transcript building.

The environment within our inner sanctum has also been mindfully created to avoid daily distraction while maintaining a quiet but steady flow of encouragement. Our notification options are extensive allowing you to limit the noise while not missing your answers, the search bar takes you quickly to any past post of your query, and our app (yes! we have an app!!) allows you to engage on the fly when all of the best questions pop into our lovely minds!

Ultimately, we created what we had needed as younger homeschooling moms just getting started, changing levels, seeking optimal curriculum, wondering about various methods, building transcripts, and wondering about college. Umbrella Skye is a place where all families can know they are understood, supported, and empowered. Even though our leadership team has created multiple social and academic groups, we know how lonely and challenging the homeschool journey can be —especially when you are seeking answers, curriculum changes, and documentation.

Maybe you do not need us 29 days of 30, but if you need us once a month or even once a year, $50 membership dues more than cover the time you would spend researching a possible answer, and then wondering if it were accurate.

Today, we are thousands of families across the world, predominantly in the U.S., connected by our shared homeschool journey. We meet online in spaces of personal interest with the ability to limit your personal involvement to just that of interest and need while building up notification rules to streamline your focus further. As questions are asked and answered, experiences shared, and small local group gatherings begun, authentic relationships take our families into face to face community and support. This was not our original goal, but has been an incredible side benefit to offering a genuine, engaged, speed-of-life place to meet.

Through questions asked and answered by our team of professional seasoned homeschooler leaders, we all get to celebrate each step we take together as we grow and learn in our roles of parent-educator and parent-administrator.
